Criminal law is the body of law that relates to crime. It prescribes conduct perceived as threatening, harmful, or otherwise endangering to the property, health, safety, and moral welfare of people inclusive of one's self. Most criminal law is established by statute, which is to say that the laws are enacted by a legislature. Criminal law includes the punishment and rehabilitation of people who violate such laws.

Introduction to Criminal Law
Criminal Law begins with the foundations of law and the legal system and then extensively explores criminal laws and defenses using general state principles, federal law, the Constitution, and the Model Penal Code as guidelines. Although it is neither possible nor desirable to discuss every criminal law, this textbook provides a basic yet thorough overview of the American criminal justice system.

Alaska has developed its criminal laws over a relatively short timeframe; Alaska has only been a state since 1959. But in that short amount of time, Alaska has built a robust criminal justice system unique to itself.
Criminal Procedure: A Free Law School Casebook 2e (Alexander and Trachtenberg)
This Casebook is designed for the “investigations” criminal procedure class commonly taught at American law schools. It focuses on the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States. Fourth Amendment topics include definitions of “search” and “seizure,” probable cause, warrants, exceptions to the warrant requirement (e.g., plain view, consent, automobiles), stop & frisk, and arrests.
Criminal Law: An Integrated Approach (Ristroph)
Criminal law seems familiar, but the apparent familiarity can be misleading. Media or cultural depictions of criminal law are often inaccurate and these depictions won’t teach you to practice law or to pass a bar exam. This book does pursue those goals, and others. It seeks to give you an understanding of American criminal law that will be useful whether you practice in this field or a different area of law, and indeed, an understanding that will be useful even if you do not practice law at all.
