    Short Writing Assignment

Think of a situation where you wanted someone to agree with an idea, make a change, support a request, or respond to an offer. Write one paragraph explaining:

    • Who your audience is
    • What you want the reader to accept or do
    • What reason or evidence would make your message persuasive
    • What tone would best fit the situation

Use clear organization and professional wording.

    Case Study

A college bookstore notices that long lines form during the first two weeks of each semester. A student employee believes a second temporary checkout station would improve service but knows that management is concerned about staffing costs.

Write a short persuasive recommendation to bookstore management explaining:

    • The problem
    • Why action is needed
    • How the recommendation would help
    • What evidence would strengthen the message

Use audience awareness, evidence, and professional tone.
