Paula Michniewicz, Instructional Designer in eLearning at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), is the reason any of this happened. Paula introduced me to OER, helped me see that it was manageable, and spent a year working alongside me to develop my first OER course. When a change in our campus bookstore vendor left my students overcharged and frustrated, I told Paula I was taking every course I teach OER, all at once. She did not flinch. She reminded me that we already had a blueprint that worked, and then she said something that changed everything: in OER, you can pick and choose what exists, update what needs updating, and make it your own. That is when I realized I could build something new in a space that genuinely needed it.
