- 11.1: Introduction
- This page discusses a learning objective related to the role of administrative bodies and regulations in governmental rulemaking. It highlights contributions from OpenStax while also noting the restrictions on the use of their branding and materials.
- 11.2: Administrative Law
- Administrative law is also referred to as regulatory and public law. It is the law that is related to administrative agencies. Administrative agencies are established by statutes and governed by rules, regulations and orders, court decisions, judicial orders, and decisions.
- 11.3: Regulatory Agencies
- The power of administrative agencies comes from the executive branch of the government. Congress passes laws to carry out specific directives. The passing of these laws often creates a need for a government agency that will implement and carry out these laws. The government is not able to perform the work itself or manage the employees who will do the work. Instead, it creates agencies to do this. Assigning this authority to agencies is called delegation.
- 11.4: End Notes
- This page contains summaries of various sources discussing significant topics like the FTC's approval of the AOL/Time Warner merger, the FDA's approval of the first generic EpiPen, phone scams, the origins of the EPA, and aspects of administrative law. Additionally, it highlights the role of culture in change management, educational aspects of Total Quality Management (TQM), key TQM factors, and leadership in management. Links are provided for further information on each topic.
- 11.5: Assessment Questions
- This page explains administrative law, which governs administrative agencies formed by various branches of government. It highlights the role of the FDA in ensuring public health through product oversight. Agencies function via a delegation process with leadership appointed by the president, and the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) aims to standardize administrative procedures.
